Surgery

Dearest Joshua David~

Hello cutie pie!  Boy did we have a busy day today!

Mimi went in for her surgery early this morning, but Grandpa Mike kept us updated on her status.  They had to be at the hospital (DOOK) really early in the morning (I think around 5ish) and then the surgery started around 8am.  We got word that everything was done by noon, and everything went successfully.  They put in the size mechanical valve that they wanted to put in (to replace the aortic valve) and there were no complications.  Mimi will be in the hospital for a while though so they can monitor her.  She'll be in an intensive care recovery room until tomorrow afternoon.  Keep praying for her and her recovery little one!

You, on the other hand, slept in this morning .... you had a rough night last night and ended up crying yourself to sleep.  You fought sleep so hard and resisted it so much that you just cried and cried (and kept yawning and rubbing your eyes at the same time).  Lets not do that anymore, ok?  :-P

We played together in the bonus room this morning and then worked our way down to the living room to get ready for your physical therapy appointment.  Eliza was impressed with your new trick of standing in the crib (I've seen you do this twice now).  Also, we noticed that you're beginning to roll to the left more too, and not just the right.  You're still resisting your neck exercises .... and since you're stronger it gets harder to hold you .... but you're definitely better than months prior at turning to the left.  We practiced getting in and out of the sitting position and crawling position.  :-)  And, she still loves your giggles!

Daddy worked a half day so he could help with things with Mimi.  So, he came home during your appointment.  Once Eliza left, we all headed over to Level Four Pediatrics for a head scan.  Your appointment was supposed to be this Friday, but they had to reschedule this morning and had an opening this afternoon.  Daddy's never seen you get a scan before, so he got to help hold and play with you.  They were happy with your progress!  You're showing growth in the right areas which is really encouraging!  They adjusted your helmet in one area.  Our next appointment is in another 4 weeks for another scan.  At this point, we only need to go for monthly scans until everything looks complete.  :-)

After your appointment, we grabbed a quick late lunch/early dinner on our way to Mimi's house.  I changed you while daddy fed the cats and gave one of the cats her medicine.  We also brought the mail in and checked to make sure things were ok around the house.

We got home after 6pm, so you had a bottle and then your evening bath.  Uncle Brennan came over and visited with you before he and daddy headed to their soccer game.  Uncle Brennan made it to the hospital today, so he also gave us an update on Mimi.

You and I stayed here and played this evening.  However, the fun stopped when you had an enormous poopy diaper that went on the changing table and ended up using 3 diapers!  Ew!

I hope you sleep a little better this evening!

I love you very much!  :-)

~Mommy
