Wet Paint

Dearest Joshua David~

Hello little man!  I have some wonderful news .... you slept through the night last night!!  It was a birthday miracle!  When I woke up in the morning and noticed that you were still sleeping in your little bed I had to look twice!  :-P  Do you think there's anyway you can continue that trend and keep sleeping through the night?  Daddy and I hope so!

Once we all got up, you had your usual breakfast of cereal and apple juice.  Daddy and I had some cereal and then we all went upstairs.  You played in the bonus room and watched cartoons with daddy as I took a shower.  When daddy and I switched, I put a CD on for us to listen to as we played.  We bopped along to some music until everyone was ready to run some errands.

It was cold and rainy today .... so we tried to make our errands as quick as possible.  We ran to Lowes first and got things to help us paint the two smaller bedrooms upstairs.  These rooms will eventually be your room and Peanut's room.  Since the floor people are coming monday to take out the existing old carpets and place new flooring down, we decided that this would be the best time to paint the rooms too .... especially since it won't matter if we spill some paint on the carpet!  ;-)

From there, we went to the paint store, Sherwin-Williams, and picked up two colors.  The front bedroom is going to be a guest room for now, but you'll eventually go in there when you're bigger.  So, we're going to paint the walls an "Honest Blue" shade.  I think you'll like it.  :-)  The back bedroom will be the nursery.  This will be your room for now while Peanut is little and in our room.  Then, Peanut can have that room as you go to the front bedroom.  The nursery will be a "Butter Up" shade.  We picked up a gallon of both colors and some white for touch ups and the closets.

You were getting a little hungry at this point, so we stopped at Target on the way home and sat in their coffee shop to give you a bottle.  Daddy had a coffee and I had a hot chocolate.  Those hit the spot since it was still cold and rainy out.  We walked around the store a little and picked up a few things .... one thing we got was a toy for you .... it's a 'learn to walk and ride' type toy.  You can stand and push it now, and when you get bigger, it converts so you can ride and push it with your feet.  It's one of those toys that Eliza was recommending for you.  We saw one there and decided to get it for you since you're such a good kiddo .... though you'll need to continue to sleep through the night!  :-P

Once home, daddy and I had a quick lunch and then we started our painting project.  We placed you in a play area in the room with us, put the radio on, and started painting.  Three hours and one diaper change later .... the front bedroom was an "Honest Blue!"  There were areas that needed touching up and the closest still needed to be done, but we pretty much did the bulk in 3 hours.  And, boy were we tired after that!  While daddy did some touch up work, I moved a few little things from the back bedroom and master bedroom into the bonus room.  All three rooms will need to be emptied by monday morning for the floor people!  One room down and two to go!

We tried to relax the rest of the evening.  UNC had a basketball game, so that was a nice break and way to end the evening .... since we won!  Tomorrow, we'll finish moving the rest of the furniture and then paint the other bedroom.  I think the icky weather is helpful because it's motivating daddy and I to get these projects done.  If it were sunny and warm out, I wouldn't feel like being inside and painting.  :-P  Ha!  But, I think these rooms are all going to look really nice with the new floors and fresh coat of paint.  We're not painting the master bedroom, so that just needs to be emptied.  Lucky for daddy and I we don't have much furniture!

Sleep tight little man!

I love you very much!  :-)

~Mommy
