You and I

Dearest Joshua David~

Hello my little treasure!  Today you and I had fun together.  You slept well again last night .... so thank you little man!  I hope this continues!

We spent most of the day in the play room.  You explored all your toys and crawled all around your play place.  You ended up wearing yourself out by around 11am and fell asleep on me.  I was rocking you in a chair because you appeared to be fighting sleep, but after a few minutes, you were snoring on my chest.  I didn't want you to oversleep though, since you had physical therapy at 12:30pm.  So, I continued to hold you and planned on waking you up around noon.  You, however, must have a little alarm clock in you because you woke up about ten minutes till noon.  :-)

You weren't, however, in the best mood during physical therapy.  You fussed and even cried when Eliza put you on the big green ball (you love the ball!).  That was weird, so we gave you a little 4 ounce bottle of formula to calm you.  Eliza gave it to you .... and you HELD your own bottle for her!  You even did it one-handed at one point (this was right after I told her that you don't hold the bottles for daddy and I!).  So .... you CAN hold bottles and just decide not to for us, huh?  Or, maybe you held the bottle today because daddy and I have been practicing the sippy cup with you?  I'm going to say it's because of the sippy cup that you're now able to hold a bottle.  ;-)

We continued to practice getting you in and out of sitting position, and worked on your neck exercises (though you fussed with the exercises).

After Eliza left, you and I did a quick trip to Kohl's .... I was looking for a little purse/wallet that will hold my phone and some cheap king sized bed sheets.  I didn't find what I was looking for though, so we didn't stay long.  :-P  But, as we were pulling into the house, we saw (Great) Uncle Laurence!  He was dropping off some baby gates that he doesn't need anymore (since my cousins have out grown them).  Daddy and I will look at them this weekend to see what to do as far as hooking them up around the stairs .... we don't want you getting hurt now that you're getting stronger and pulling yourself up.

Once we got home, I cleaned out your play place.  I put you in the crib so I could move the gates around so we'd have more room to walk around the perimeter.  I was looking for cheap king sized bed sheets so I could put them on the carpet for you .... the carpet is kind of rough (in my opinion) and since you like to crawl around so much, your knees get red.  So, I wanted to put something down to help you.  I ended up finding an old sheet and bed skirt that we don't use too often and put them down.  Once I got everything back together for you, I went to grab you from the crib and you were sleeping!  :-P  So, I did my Bible reading and waited for you to wake up!  Daddy came home in the meantime and saw you snoring.  :-)

Daddy's first day at Lenovo went pretty well, though he said there were things that went on during orientation that were frustrating.  For example, they didn't have his laptop ready, so he wasn't able to complete all his benefit packages .... since your health insurance is through daddy, we're hoping everything will ok.  But, he'll keep checking on that for us.

We all ate dinner together.  You did well with your chicken and stars (though made a mess) but didn't eat much of your cookie.  :-P  Daddy gave you a nice bath while I cleaned your helmet and made a bottle for you.  Daddy was able to give you the bottle though before he had to leave for his soccer game.  Uncle Brennan wasn't feeling well, so you didn't get to see him tonight .... though I'm sure we'll see him (and everyone else) this weekend for your birthday!  :-)  I'm so excited!  :-)

This evening, you and I played together more in the play room.  Your knees weren't so red, so I think the added sheets helped.  ;-)

Tomorrow you and I are going to do something new .... after talking to other mommies, I have signed us up for MOPS .... Mothers of Preschoolers (ages birth to 6 years old) .... there's a MOPS group that meets at Crossroads Church (where Gigi plays on sundays).  They meet every other tuesday from 9:30am to 11:30am.  The coordinator described it in her newsletter as:

"I am so excited about this year! We are going to have some wonderful speakers, fun crafts and time to connect, fellowship and grow in small groups. Our theme this year is Momology: The Art and Science of Mothering. Our theme verse is: “Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” Psalm 139:10. Any- where we go, God sees, knows, and guides us. I recently learned that in the Bible the ‘right hand’ is a place of honor, wisdom, power and strength, as well as protection and favor. It is my desire, as we go through this year at MOPS learning the art and science of mothering, that you will experience the ‘right hand’ of God holding you fast, giving you power, wisdom, and strength in the good and bad times – be it through our fabulous speakers, friendships formed in your small group or prayer. And that you will know it is an honor to have you here with us at Crossroads MOPS."

Oh, and I forgot to tell you .... the kids program is called MOPPETS .... so, instead of being a "muppet" (like your fraggles) you'll be a "moppet!"  ;-)

I'm a little scared though precious Joshua .... I'm not the best extrovert, and I generally don't go places, or join groups, when I don't know someone .... so, it's a little intimidating to just walk in there tomorrow and not recognize any faces.  But, we'll have each other and that's all that matters!  It'll be nice to talk to other mommies about things in a Christian environment, and you'll be able to meet a lot of friends.  Plus, it'll be a good area for prayer requests so other mommies can pray for Peanut and a healthy pregnancy!  You never know .... there may be other precious preemies there just like you!  :-)

Sleep tight little miracle!  :-)

I love you very much!  :-)

~Mommy
